THE WESTERN AND TRADITIONAL DELIGHTFUL MIX

Jodhpur, Rajasthan’s second-largest city, is commonly called Blue City. As the majority of architectures are simply fitted forts, palaces, temples, Havelis and even houses in bright blue shades. The close forts that overlook this beautiful town are a spectacle that you don’t want to miss. The mammoth and spectacular Mehrangarh Fortress has a landscape overlooking a rocky ridge with the eight gates. Jodhpur is known also for its rare breed of horses known only here as Marwari or Malani. The root of Jodhpur goes back to 1459 AD. The history of this flourishing city centres on the clan of Rathore. The Rathore Clan leader Rao Jodha is acknowledged to have originated in India, Jodhpur. Instead of the old capital Mandore of the Manwar state, it is known that the town was founded. Thus, the population of Jodhpur and its vicinity is also referred to as Marwaris. In addition, in the Mandore Gardens, the Mandore relics can still be seen.

MEHRANGHARH FORT

The Mehrangarh Fort is perpendicular to a 125 meters hill above the skyline of Jodhpur. This historic fort is one of India’s most famous and full of history and legends.

UMAID BHAWAN PALACE

Maharaja Umaid Singh took initiative to built the Umaid Bhawan Palace in 1929 to fight against a famine that had struck the state. The Chittar Palace was also known as when it was built, thanks to the use of stones from Chittar. The palace was designed and completed in 16 years by HV Lanchester, a prominent UK architect.

SHEESH MAHAL

The Jodhpur glass palace, commonly known as Sheesh Mahal, is situated near Mehrangarh Fort. This majestic building is decorated with mirror walls running over the ceilings and the stairs. The mirror work of brightly painted religious figures casting in plaster is superimposed upon it.

PHOOL MAHAL

The Flower Hall, or Phool Mahal, is the most exorbitant of all the palace rooms. The pleasure dome for the Maharajas is said to be this lovely space. Gold from Ahmedabad, Gujarat was used in the building of the Mahal.

PADAMSAR and RANISAR

The Ranisar and Padmasar lakes are located near the Fateh Pole in Mehrangarh and were built in 1459. It was built by Queen Jasmada Hadi, wife of Rao Jodha, and by Padmasa Lake by Queen Padmini, daughter of Rana Sanga Mewar, that Queen Padmini had ordered the Lake to be built.

GOVERNMENT MUSEUM JODHPUR

The Government Museum is housing a rich collection of artefacts, textiles, art and handicraft from the city, miniature paintings, portraits of the rulers, manuscripts and photographs of Jain Tirthankaras in the Umaid Garden.

JASWANT THADA

A major tourist attraction is this milky white monument, constructed at the end of the 19th century to honour leader Jaswant Singh. Jaswant Singh who ruled Jodhpur he invested well in his state.

GHANTA GHAR

Ghanta Ghar is located in one of the busiest areas of Jodhpur and is also known as Rajasthan’s clock tower. It was designed by Jodhpur’s Shri Sardar Singh Ji. Sadar Market is very popular with tourists who take to the streets to buy Rajasthani textiles, clay, camels, elephants, marble inlay and classical silver jewellery.

MAHAMANDIR TEMPLE

Mahamandir is a sanctified place where peace reigns supremely, which means a great temple. The temple is an architectural wonder located on Mandore Street. 84 pillars are supported and decorated with detailed designs and figures that represent several Yoga postures.

MANDALESHWAR

Built-in 923 AD by Mandal Nath, the Mandaleshwar Mahadev. It is thought to be one of the most ancient shrines in the city. Some beautiful Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati paintings on the walls of the temple.

MOTI MAHAL

As the name suggests, Moti Mahal is the Pearl Hall that housed royal families. This hall is known for its glass doors and five nooks, which resembles the queens of the Srinagar chowki, the Royal Throne of Jodhpur, to listen to the events taking place.

SAMAND LAKE PALACE

The Sardar Samand Lake Palace is a spectacular hunting lodge, built-in 1933 by Maharaja Umaid Singh on the shores of Sardar Samand Lake. It is still the favourite retreat for the royal family and houses a large collection of African trophies and original aquarelles.

MASURIA HILLS

The Garden in Masuria is one of Rajasthan’s three loveliest and most famous garden. Located in Jodhpur in the middle of the hill Masuria, the temple of Baba Ramdev was popular with devotees due to its centuries-old dedication. A restaurant with stunning views over the city is situated here.

MACHIYA SAFARI PARK

This park is located about 1 km from Kaylana Lake on the way to Jaisalmer. There are also several animals, like deer, desert foxes, monitor lizards, blue bulls, hare, wild cats, mongoose, monkey etc. It is a visitor’s bird watching area. The park also offers great sunset views and is worth noting.

JANTAR MANTAR

It is the most important sundial site in the world and consists of 19 architectural instruments, Jantar Mantar is an astronomical observatory, founded in 1744 under the order of Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh II. This site has been designated a World Heritage Site by UNESCO, and a visit to Jantar Mantar should certainly be on your Jaipur list.

HAWA MAHAL

Hawa Mahal is a pyramidal five-story building built from the pink and red sandstone that make up one of Jaipur’s most popular tourist attractions. It has 953 small windows and looks like a honeycombed hive, designed by Maharaja Sawai Pratap Singh during 1799. Due to the breeze that blooms through the fabulous glass windows, the internal chambers of this building have a cooling effect. You can get a beautiful view of the town palace and Jantar Mantar from there if you ascend to the top of Hawa Mahal.

AMER FORT

This is Amber Fort and Palace, a magnificent fort with a top hill setting and a spacious palace within its buildings. Amber Fort is one of the most famous fortresses in Jaipur and remains a majestic architectural brilliance in art and history. This fort features beautiful structures such as the Sheesh Mahal, Shukh Niwas and the Diwan-e Khas. Every night the light and sound display bring the fort and its past alive, which must not be missed.

RAMBAGH PALACE

Once upon a time, the Rambagh Palace was just a royal hunting lodge in a thick forest. It later grew to a great residence for the Maharaja of Jaipur in the early part of the 20th century. The palace is now one of Jaipur’s finest historic hotels. If you plan to check-in at this palace-hotel, you should expect an eye-catching mix of opulence and comfort.

NAHARGARH FORT

Nahargarh Fort, a magnificent monument facing Jaipur, is perched on the rocky ridge of the Aravali Hills with a wonderful view of the region. The Nahargarh Fort was founded by Jai Singh II in 1734 and then Maharaja of Jaipur, along with the Amer Fort and the Jaigarh Fort. Built by the Jai Singh II in 1734. For the royal family, the fort was a chase escape. It’s a beautiful view to see the glorious sunsets around the Pink City today.

AMAR JAWAN JYOTI

Amar Jawan Jyoti is a memorial to commemorate, during the Indo-Pakistan war of 1971, the valiant soldiers who put their lives to the service of the country. The basic structure of the raised rifle is a major attraction between visitors as well as local residents. When the sun is down, the memorial lights up against the dark sky and becomes one of the best spots to visit at night in Jaipur.
